Drew Barrymore has long been open and honest about her post-divorce love life on her show, and the Never Been Kissed icon, 47, just spoke more about her romantic history in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Many of Barrymore’s fans were crushed back in 2016, when she and third ex-husband, art consultant Will Kopelman, 43, divorced after 4 years of marriage. Kopelman recently remarried Alexandra Michler, 34, Vogue director of fashion development in August 2021 while Barrymore has been single following the divorce but still says she goes on several dates per year. She and Kopelman share two daughters: Olive, 9, and Frankie, 7.

“I think as my kids have gotten older and their dad is happily remarried, times change and, you know, we bloom, and I am more open to it now,” Barrymore said of dating. “It’s been six years, I’m a little rusty, my life is very different, I’ve never even approached dating, let alone a relationship as a single mom who has finally made an investment in myself.” She continued, “I have always been about relationships and my kids and everyone else. I don’t think I’ve ever entered a relationship, this whole of a person as an individual entity.”

Barrymore also revealed that she “loves” dating. “I think it can be very fun and I don’t do it very often. I think I’m averaging, like, one or two dates a year, which feels constant in a busy life.” So far, while none of the dates turned into a serious relationship, the Santa Clarita Diet star says she’s still remaining optimistic. “Most of them have been not so great but to me those are like funny stories and I never want people to get cynical out there,” she adds. “You have to be hopeful, and you have to do it for yourself. Get ready, play music, put on your favorite outfit.”

Additionally, as a single mom, the 50 First Dates actress has said how “hard” modern dating can be confessed to using dating apps on The Drew Barrymore Show. “When you’re young, you’re not like, ‘Oh I bet they could really pick that kid up on time from school,” she notably said on The Tonight Show in the past. Barrymore also recently reiterated that what she now looks for in a partner has understandably changed since being married and having children.
