During the filming of her talk show’s Halloween special, fans were astonished by Drew Barrymore‘s unrecognizable appearance in her costume! The 48-year-old actress opted for a gender-bending ensemble to celebrate the occasion.
The episode (which aired last week and was aptly named ‘A Very Hairy Halloween’), saw Barrymore and her friend Ross Matthews, 44, paying homage to iconic hairstyles of the past, including those of late painter Bob Ross and country music icon Dolly Parton.
The talk show host went above and beyond to perfect her appearance, adorning herself with a curly wig reminiscent of the famous Ross, a synthetic beard and mustache, as well as fabricated chest hair. To complement this very 80s get-up, she rocked a crisp blue button-down shirt and brown trousers. During the show, Barrymore garnered applause, claps and cheers from the stunned audience members as she and Matthews revealed their jaw-dropping costumes.

Drew Barrymore Fully Commits To Her Bob Ross Halloween Costume— Making Fans Do A Double Take
On Instagram, Barrymore shared a behind-the-scenes video of her epic transformation in a post for her 17.3 million followers. Naturally, fans and viewers couldn’t get enough of her costume, and headed to her comment section to share their thoughts. “It’s the chest hair for me. You look great Drew…I mean Bob,” one joked. Another added: “Omg love the costume. Bob Ross has always been a favourite of mine and so have you @drewbarrymore.”
Another fan commented under Barrymore’s post: “Oh my goodness, that’s too funny! Only you can pull that off!” Others stressed that they “could not believe” that was really Barrymore before seeing the transformation process, as she looked “so different!” Many also noted that she “won Halloween” and “absolutely slayed” with her dedication and commitment to the look. (We couldn’t agree more!)
Despite the recent end of the writer’s strike and the ongoing actors’ strike, Barrymore made no mention of either issue during the season four premiere of her talk show on October 16th. The show had faced backlash over the past few months and Barrymore offered apologies after she initially returned during the writer’s strike but later retracted her decision.
Following a hiatus since May, the 30-minute debut of the Drew Barrymore Show premiered two weeks ago, with new episodes currently able to stream via Paramount Plus.
