There are a ton of foods that are rumored to give you acne, ranging from chocolate to white bread. Whether these rumors are true or not, there is one thing we are sure can cause acne: soda.
We all know that soda is one of the worst drinks you can have for your inner health, but something many people don’t realize is just how detrimental this soft drink can be for your skin’s health. Soda can cause acne and wrinkles to form on the skin, as well as cause a rough and dull texture.
The main issue with soda is its high sugar content - sugar causes inflammation which takes a huge toll on your skin - in the form of acne. It can also lead to irritation and exaggerate pre-existing skin conditions like eczema.
“The biggest problem about soda is the crazy amount of sugar. The dangers of sugar to the body are not new, scientists have been studying it for years. When a patient consumes a lot of sugar, it shows in their skin,” Dr. Steven Victor told Fox News. “I notice wrinkles, skin texture, oil content,” he said. “When you see somebody who is having a lot of sugar, their skin doesn’t look glowing or bright, it looks saggy and dull.”
