The drive-thru can be a quick and easy meal option if you’re on the go, but it can be difficult to stick to a healthy diet when eating fast food. Although it’s always possible to find healthy (or, at least, healthier) options, it can be difficult to discern what menu items are diet-friendly. Likewise, it may be hard to know you should order–and what you shouldn’t.

With that in mind, keep reading for the one drive-thru food you should never order!

A good rule of thumb when ordering at the drive-thru is to steer clear of any burgers with double or triple patties.

When the patties are doubled or even tripled, the calories and sodium start to add up in a major way.

If you take Wendy's menu, for example, the Dave's Triple burger is probably one of its worst menu items. This burger contains 1,090 calories, which (if you're going on a 2,000 calorie/day diet) is over half your daily calories.

McDonald's Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese also packs in the calories, sodium and fat. According to Eat This, Not That!, this menu item contains 770 calories, 45 g fat, and 1,290 mg sodium.

Plus, most people hitting the drive-thru are not only ordering one burger. This nutrition information does not take into account any sides or drinks you may order with your meal, which can start to add up.

With that in mind, if you are craving a burger, stick to options that only have one patty. Plus, you can always check the nutrient content on the menu before ordering just to be sure.
