Concealers can vary in effect from person to person. Factors like age, skin type, and desired coverage can make a concealer suitable for one person but not another. Therefore, it’s crucial to research and discover which formulas and brands suit your needs over 40. If your goal is to hide dark circles and hydrate mature skin, you’re in luck!

In an insightful TikTok video, skilled makeup artist and content creator Michelle (@michelledemoda) detailed a hydrating concealer option that neither cakes nor creases, while also effectively addressing fine lines and wrinkles to deliver a smoother, more radiant complexion all year long.

An MUA & Content Creator Recommends This Moisturizing Concealer That Promises Not To Cake Or Crease While Addressing Fine Lines

At the start of her video, Michelle explained: “If your concealer is always creasing underneath your eyes, you’re probably going to want to hear this. You probably have dry and or mature skin and you need a concealer with eye cream ingredients, especially when you have a crusty, dusty scab.”

She instructed followers to not choose the popular Tarte Shape Tape concealer and instead select the Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy version. She said to apply it with a “gentle brush” and “ever-so-softly pat down the skincare ingredients into the skin [under the eyes] so they won’t cake or crease.”

Why Experts Swear By The Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer

This concealer, according to the brand, offers "full coverage" and a "moisturizing matte"  formula. It is also waterproof, vegan and "for all skin types, especially dry or mature skin." In addition,  Tarte notes that skin looks "smoother, plumper and more youthful" after use. It works by using a "cushion tape technology," that is said to help "smooth and reduce look of fine lines, wrinkles & pores."

Michelle concurs with this, telling her followers that it "really targets your fine lines and wrinkles as you're wearing it, just like your eye cream would." She also highlighted the product's rejuvenating ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid for hydration and plumping, prickly pear for deep moisture, and ginseng to soothe redness.

The Bottom Line

The vegan squalane helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles, while mango butter conditions and moisturizes. Avocado butter targets dark circles, and shea butter helps maintain skin's elasticity. Raspberry ketone boosts firmness, and meadowsweet serves as an anti-inflammatory. This ultimately provides a "flawless coverage," Michelle said.

When testing out an under-eye concealer product or one for redness or dark spots, you may not see its full potential if you aren’t adequately prepping the area before applying, pro MUA Lynn Simpson tells SheFinds. “Always, always apply an under-eye cream before concealer to ensure the smoothest texture of skin before application,” she says, adding that an ideal concealer “has amazing coverage, but doesn’t move.” The more you know!
