Dua Lipa has long been a muse for Versace. Not only did the “Levitating” singer open and close the spring 2022 show in Milan, but she was also the face of the winter 2021 campaign. Dua’s frequently been photographed with the founder of the fashion house, Donatella Versace.
And now, Dua and Donatella have co-designed a Versace collection which included a sequined halter top and micro mini skirt she wore for a music video. We particularly love the plunging, sequined Versace gown with butterfly decals that Dua wore for a photoshoot. Check out Dua’s Barbie-inspired Versace collection below!
Dua, who is appearing in the new Barbie movie, shared some behind-the-scenes photos of her shoot with Versace. The carousel on Instagram showed six photos of the singer posing by the pool in a sequined Versace dress with a low-cut neckline. The dress featured gold chain spaghetti straps, a high slit in the back, and lace trim on the bust and hem. Dua accessorized with a pair of six-inch heels.
Her jewelry consisted of a chunky, kitschy necklace, statement earrings, butterfly ear cuffs, a butterfly bracelet, and three butterfly rings. After stunning at the Cannes Film Festival with wispy bangs, she styled her dark hair in an ultra-high, voluminous ponytail up and away from her face. Dua opted for full-glam makeup with full lashes, sharp eyebrows, heavy eyeshadow, and a mauve lip.
In a statement following the announcement of their collaboration, Donatella said, “I have always been inspired by a collaborative design process. Working with Dua on this collection has been very exciting and I love the dynamic between us. Dua is strong, fearless, and free and her creative vision is exceptional. Summer is a magical time. We will capture this feeling and the colors of that time of the year with a truly special and intimate fashion show in Cannes.”
Dua also talked about her long-standing friendship and working relationship with Versace, “I am absolutely thrilled to have co-designed the women’s ‘La Vacanza’ collection for Versace with Donatella. She and I have formed such a strong bond over the years, and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received from her and the whole team since the very beginning of my career.”
She continued. “For her to give me the honor of co-designing this collection and letting all my summer inspirations go wild has been a dream. I am so very proud of this collection and cannot wait to debut it in Cannes.” The collection marks Dua’s first step into the design world and the first time the fashion house worked with a collaborator.
