Dua Lipa has proven time and time again that she can rock the ‘Barbiecore’ trend, which is fitting since she just announced that she is starring in the upcoming Barbie film! The “Don’t Start Now” hitmaker, 27, is set to make her acting debut in the Greta Gerwig-directed flick, playing a mermaid version of Barbie alongside Margot Robbie’s take on the beloved character.
The Grammy winner shared the exciting news in an Instagram post for her 87.8 million followers this week, and showed off her look for the movie in a new promotional poster. From her long, wavy oceanic blue tresses to her sparkly seashell bandeau top to her shimmering jewels, fans are naturally in awe.

In the image for the poster that Lipa shared, she poses in the nautical, glimmering costume with the tagline, "This Barbie is a mermaid." Along with her strapless, glittery bra top and bottom piece with a seashell detail, the "Cold Heart" singer also added oversized pearl-adorned hoop earrings and a statement string necklace with clear gems.
Her long blue hair was worn slightly off to the side, and styled into beachy, loose waves. As for her makeup look, Lipa sported azure eyeshadow, sky-high lashes, rosy blush that emphasized her high cheekbones, and she added a coral lipstick hue to top it all off. In her caption, the Future Nostalgia artist wrote, "This Barbie is a mermaid!! #BarbieTheMovie" with apt heart, mermaid and ocean wave emojis.
Fans headed to her post comment section to hype up her ensemble, with one user writing, "you look so stunning!" and another adding, "blue is so your color." The long-awaited, star-studded Barbie film will hit US theaters on July 21, 2023.
