It’s no secret that Dua Lipa maintains a well-toned physique, frequently sharing snippets of her rigorous workout sessions and passion for yoga on Instagram. Observing the Grammy winner’s defined abs, strong legs, and endurance during performances has piqued the interest of countless fans who wonder about her preferred exercises and nutritional habits.

In an interview with Women’s Health, the “Houdini” singer’s former personal trainer, Peter MacIver, provided insight into her fitness routine and diet plan. The fitness mogul noted that he and the “Dance the Night” hitmaker, 29, typically worked out together three to four times weekly, with each session lasting an hour and combining both cardio and resistance exercises.

The Secret to Dua Lipa’s Fit Physique? Her Trainer Says Daily 'Naps,' HIIT, and Yoga Help Her Stay 'Lean And Toned'

He shared that Lipa's goal when training was to "keep lean and toned and improve overall fitness being on stage." He praised Lipa for conquering her challenges. For example, MacIver noted that Lipa felt that "running up the hills in Primrose" in North London was impossible. However, she ultimately "overcame it by tackling one hill at a time."

He continued: "So instead of saying we’re running up five (which is typical with all of my clients), we’d do one at a time, and she managed it in the end." MacIver also said that Lipa prioritized rest when her body needed it, and that included daily naps. "For a busy individual like Dua, I suggested naps to help her body recover. If you train too much, your body won’t work, so rest is a non-negotiable," he said.

According to MacIver, an essential part of Lipa's exercise routines is ensuring she consistently sets aside time for a warm-up. "We’d spend 10 minutes before every session to make sure her joints and muscles were ready," he told the outlet. The singer would also often start sessions with him at 7 a.m., he noted. As Lipa herself told Refinery29 regarding morning exercise: "getting physical really starts my day off right."

The "Training Season" artist previously shared with Marie Claire that she frequently changes her workout routine, incorporating HIIT classes, boxing, yoga, and various other activities. "When I have a tiny bit more time on my side I love mixing up lots of different training, finding different workouts in whatever city I'm in, whether it's yoga, Pilates, boxing or spinning," she said.

Regarding Lipa's eating habits, the Radical Optimism songwriter maintains a diet rich in whole, unprocessed foods but admits to indulging in a sweet treat occasionally. As per Beauty Crew, Lipa revealed: "'I try and stay as healthy as possible whenever I can." She added: "[But] I'm never one to stop myself having treats, I do love naughty treats. But I try and limit it to days when I'm not as busy, because if I do eat a doughnut it usually puts me in a food coma!"

As reported by Health Yogi, Lipa makes an effort to consume nutritious, whole foods whenever she can. Her day often starts with eggs or fruit for breakfast. Before her workouts, she might have a banana with cashew butter. For lunch, she enjoys a chicken salad loaded with vegetables and a chilled juice. Dinner typically consists of more fresh vegetables and salad paired with fish. She ends her day with a sweet treat, such as a packet of candies. (The more you know!)
