Dunkin’ Donuts just made a huge announcement, updating their menu items to give customers a fun activity during quarantine. The chain launched DIY donut decorating kits for customers to have some decorating fun at home!

The kits are available at participating locations, and each comes with plain donuts, different types of frosting, and sprinkles.
The idea started in San Francisco Bay Area locations. Matt Cobo, a Dunkin' franchisee, decided to start selling them after an employee, Norma Valkenaar, asked if she could bring home some donut-decorating supplies for her nephews.
In a Dunkin' press release, Cobo explained how he then decided to start selling the kits: "The reality of this experience has set in, and we know it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Like most parents, we were looking for ways to entertain our kids and bring a little levity to this situation."
He explained, "This is our small way of trying to brighten someone's day. The simple joy of getting to create your own donut can make kids light up, and if we can be a part of creating that moment, that makes us happy."
Inspired by Cobo's decorating kits, franchises across the country started following suit. If you want to try your hand at donut decorating, check with your local location to see if they are offering the kits.
