Expert Tips for Effortlessly Contouring Your Forehead

Pro Hack: Use a Cool-Toned Contour Shade on Your Hairline

Barlow’s first and main suggestion for shrinking your forehead with makeup is to grab a “cool-toned contour shade that is 1-3 shades deeper than your natural skin tone.” She says that one shade deeper is the “most natural,” two shades deeper is “more dramatic,” and three is even more.

She then says to apply the shade you choose “along the hairline and on the part of the forehead” that you would like to appear less prominent.

Additional Steps:

Highlight Your Brows with Light Concealer

Next, Barlow recommends using a lighter "highlight shade in the middle of the brow" and "slightly above it" to bring the focus closer to your eyes.

Contouring with concealer and highlighter is nothing new, and emphasizing your peepers and eyebrows can take more attention off of the forehead area that you're trying to slim down.

Blend with a Bronzer

Barlow's last helpful tip is to "use a bronzer to marry the two shades" by applying it "near the hairline and down to where the highlight begins."

As a bonus, she also says to "keep your foundation brush on hand for blending," just in case an excess amount of "contour, highlight or bronzer is applied." Noted!
