Eiza Gonzalez is an undeniable beauty, which is why fans were shocked when the 31-year-old actress was caught photoshopping her latest red carpet photos before posting them to Instagram. Following the 2021 Met Gala, Gonzalez took to social media to share some stunning photos of herself rocking a form-fitting red dress to the fashion event of the year, but was later called out for subtly altering the photos to have her body appear smaller.

The changes were called to attention by the Instagram account @celebface who also pinpointed celebs Zoey Deutch and Rita Ora for editing their photos to appear thinner. The account captioned the photo set, “@eizagonzalez, @ritaoraand @zoeydeutch didn’t like their photos from the 2021 Met Gala. They prefer edited versions. Which version do you think is better?”

In the two side by side images and accompanying video of Gonzalez, it’s clear that the actress or someone on her team photoshopped her arms to appear smaller while also making subtle changes to the size of her waist and hips. While the edits are slight, they promote the idea that smaller is better and peddle an unrealistic body model that even your favorite celebrities cannot fulfill.

People were not thrilled in the comments, targeting the issue of celebs creating an unattainable body standard. One person wrote, “It’s so weird because they do the most unnoticeable altercations…. Like what’s the point. They look perfect before?!?” Another commented, “It’s really interesting to see just how little they edit them…. moving in their waist, by just the smallest amount. As if anyone would notice if they hadn’t, it’s so sad honestly. Just goes to show even seemingly “perfect” people still have insecurities.”

Gonzalez has not commented on the photoshop allegations, but she would not be the first celeb to make minor changes to her photos before posting them to social media. Regardless, she looked stunning in the original Met Gala photos and would have appeared just as radiant had she posted the unedited version.
