During the interview, Ellen referred to Portia as her "rock" for helping her get through the heart-breaking scandal surrounding her show.
The 63-year-old explained, "It broke my heart; I couldn't have gone through everything I went through without her. It was a horrible time in my life, and she was a rock. She kept me going and tried to help me put things in perspective."
"We're lucky to have each other," DeGeneres gushed. "We practice a lot of gratitude."
De Rossi let the interviewer know one way in particular DeGeneres practices gratitude. Apparently, every single time they travel apart, Ellen "has the hotel put rose petals in the shape of a love heart on [Portia's] bed."
"Every single time over the last 16 years," de Rossi said. "And it always catches me off-guard."
As for what they love most about each other, Ellen had a long list: "To start superficially, I love the way she looks. I love her brain; she's smart. That's really important. She's strong. She's confident. She's really funny. And she's a good dresser and a good dancer. She's learning to cook."
Portia responded, "Wow, how do I top that? She is the kindest, most generous, most loving, loyal, trustworthy person I have ever known. She's a very special human being. Some of it sometimes rubs off on me."
Although it didn't quite make Ellen's list, we're sure that one of the talkshow host's other favorite things about Portia is also her loyalty.
During the height of the scandal around The Ellen Show, Portia put out a message of support on Instagram.
She captioned the post, "To all our fans....we see you. Thank you for your support."
