"Sometimes she would yell at us but it was more about the incredibly condescending tone she would use," the former employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Daily Mail. "She treated you like you were nothing. She was going to torture you and you were just going to sit there and listen to it because you were being paid. Ellen was the worst person that I've ever met in my life. She takes pleasure in firing people."
According to the anonymous source, the 62-year-old talkshow host would even lay traps for the staff, like leaving matchsticks in random places to see whether cleaners were dusting every square inch.
The former employee also said that Degeneres had strict criteria for staff, and would berate them for small mistakes such as serving food in the wrong bowl, leaving a salt shaker in a "wrong" spot or not making sure a latte was frothed to the celeb's standards.
These allegations come as quite a shock to many of Degeneres' fans, as the comedian has always presented herself as such a caring and compassionate person in interviews and on her talk show. It seems that you truly never know what a celebrity is really like.
