Despite currently clashing with their neighbors in the Cotswolds, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are reportedly staying put in the U.K. And to prove that they have no intention of returning to the U.S. any time soon, they have just sold one of their last remaining properties in the country!

The 67-year-old former daytime talk show host once held an impressive real estate portfolio in the U.S. thanks to her love and skill of buying, renovating, and flipping luxury homes. She and Portia, 52, have owned several plush properties across Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and Montecito, California over the years, but have slowly let them go. Their beach bungalow in Montecito, famously home to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, is now one of the last ones to sell, thus confirming that they want to put their life in the U.S. behind them!

Ellen DeGeneres And Portia De Rossi Sell Their Montecito Home For $5.2M

According to reports, the married couple have officially sold their 1,691-square-foot two-bedroom, two-bathroom beach bungalow in Montecito, California – and they got more than asking for it!

They reportedly purchased the property, which was built in 1954 and remodeled in 2012, for $2.9M back in 2020, and listed it for $4.995M on March 10th. Just 10 days later, it sold for a super-impressive $5.2M!

Located near the picturesque Butterfly Beach, the lavish home boasts a private courtyard and soundproof fencing, making it an ideal retreat for fellow A-listers or families seeking privacy.

Why Did Ellen And Portia Really Leave The US?

According to TMZ, Ellen and Portia have been telling people that they fled to the U.K. following Donald Trump's election win, saying they wanted to "get the hell out of the country." But it seems like the former chat show host's abrupt fall from grace in Hollywood may have also played a role.

Ellen seemed to keep a low profile after being canceled due to questionable past interviews and allegations of a toxic workplace at The Ellen Show, but resurfaced for a Netflix comedy special called For Your Approval.

Telling the audience what she had been up to since leaving the spotlight, she said: "I decided to take up gardening. I got chickens. Let me see what else can I tell you about what's been going on. Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business... Yeah, the 'be kind' girl wasn't kind. That was the headline."

The Netflix special was a huge flop, with an insider telling In Touch last year: "Ellen is still angry and she's had enough. Her final comedy special is the last time anyone will see her in the public eye."
