Elton John first revealed that he was suffering from vision loss last year, explaining that he developed a pretty “severe” infection while summering in the south of France. However, things have started to get worse instead of better. Keep reading for more information.
Elton John Speaks About His Vision Loss
Speaking with The Times, the 78-year-old musician said that he's feeling his vision loss the most as a parent. John shares two sons, with his husband, David Furnish: Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 12. "I can't read," he explained. "I can't see my boys playing rugby and soccer, and it has been a very stressful time, because I'm used to soaking it all up.
"It's distressing," he continued. "You get emotional, but you have to get used to it, because I'm lucky to have the life I have. I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of here. You say to yourself, just get on with it."

Social Media Reactions
When fans of Elton John around the world heard of his severe infection causing blindness, they immediately took to social media to share their well wishes. "Sir Elton is one of the best British singers ever," one person posted on X, formerly Twitter. "I hope you get your vision back soon!"
"Oh no!" another wrote. "Praying for you! We love you Elton."
"I hope Elton gets better," a third said. "He's such a treasure."
"I am praying for this lovely man, Sir Elton John," another wrote. "Here's hoping he has many more happy years and his sight returns."
"With his age, healing no doubt will take time unfortunately," a final fan said. "I wish him the best."
