What You Need To Know Before Taking Another Bite Of Wendy’s Chili, According To Employees
January 11, 2022 by Justine Schwartz
A person claiming to be a Wendy’s employee is causing quite the stir on TikTok after reportedly showing how Wendy’s *really* prepares their chili–and its not how you think!
A user named @mr.mawby took to the platform to “expose” the fast food chain, which clearly has been working seeing that the video has been viewed over seven million times and even received a shout-out from singer Lizzo on her page. Yikes–this is not the kind of publicity the Ohio-based chain is looking for, we’d bet.
In the viral clip, the worker claims to show how the beef-based dish is prepared in Wendy’s kitchens. The process involves taking “old dry pattys,” adding water, placing the bin in the microwave and then chopping up the reheated meat with a spatula. Needless to say this is not the type of preparation had hoped for.
The TikToker has received thousands of comments expressing disgust by current and past Wendy’s customers. “I just had some yesterday…I feel sick bruh,” wrote one person. I can see why this news might make one’s stomach turn!
Previously, Reddit users had revealed that the restaurant makes their chili from “old meat,” and that it comes from broken pattys that have been cooked too long to be used in sandwiches. One user even went so far as to say that cheese pattys were used for the making of chili, but the cheese was only a hasty removed. Aka, if you’re lactose intolerant, you should think twice before ordering the chili here.
Other TikTok comments came to the defense of the food chain, pointing out that, of course, chili contains beef and where else do they think the fast food chain would source beef from (other than its own patty supply). Touché!
