December 20, 2017 by Kiarra Lyles

As we age, our skin begins to lose collagen and elastin, the components responsible for keeping skin tight and firm. This loss may result in sagging skin, which can develop on the neck, under arms and under your chin. There are many skincare products on the market that address sagging skin, but there are also natural remedies as well, including essential oils. Here are four essential oils dermatologists swear by for sagging skin.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil comes from the extracted nuts or seeds of the jojoba plant. According to Dermatology News, "Jojoba oil is considered to be a natural moisturizer and is thought to be highly conditioning, softening, and healing for all skin types." It also has anti-inflammatory properties and is great for hair care as well.

Pomegranate Oil

Pomegranate is an antioxidant-rich fruit that has amazing benefits when eaten, as well as when its oil is applied topically. In fact, this study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that pomegranate seed oil applied on the skin promotes epidermis regeneration!

Frankincense Oil

Frankincense oil is derived from the resin of the Boswellia sacra tree. Though it should not be applied directly on the skin, when used with a carrier oil like coconut oil or grapeseed oil, frankincense provide amazing antioxidant benefits. "It is full of antioxidants like limonene and thujene, which prevent damage to skin cells," says dermatologist Dr. Cybele Fishman.

Lavender Oil

You know lavender oil as a soothing and relaxing aromatherapeutic oil. But it is also good for aging skin as well due to its antioxidant properties. According to The Dermatology Review, "Like geranium oil, lavender oil also helps the skin retain moisture and fight dry flaky skin on face. It also helps fight acne as well as return elasticity."
