It’s well known that diet and exercise play fundamental roles in managing cravings and promoting fat loss. However, while you shouldn’t rely on supplements as the end all, be all of your weight loss efforts, certain options can in fact provide additional support by regulating hunger hormones, stabilizing blood sugar levels, and optimizing metabolism.

There are a lot of weight loss supplements out there to choose from—and some of them are known to be ineffective, while others are downright dangerous. So which choices can you trust? “A few essential supplements can make a significant difference,” says Dr. Jennifer Habashy, Assistant Medical Director at Claya. According to her, it’s time to add protein powder, bebeerine, and glutathione to your regimen.

1. Protein Powder (Whey or Plant-Based)

You probably already know that protein is one of the most crucial aspects of a balance diet, especially for those trying to lose weight. "Protein is essential for satiety, helping to curb cravings by stabilizing blood sugar and reducing ghrelin, the hunger hormone," Dr. Habashy notes. Additionally, protein supports muscle preservation, which is crucial for maintaining metabolism during fat loss. If you're not getting enough protein in your meals, a supplement can make a major difference.

2. Berberine

Often referred to as "nature’s Ozempic," berberine is a powerful supplement that helps regulate blood sugar and insulin levels, Dr. Habashy tells us. When your blood sugar and insulin are stable, you experience less cravings—especially when it comes to cravings for carbohydrates, which can be a major hurdle in weight loss efforts. The less processed carbs you crave, the more weight you'll shed! "It also supports metabolic function, making it a powerful tool for weight management," says Dr. Habashy. Sign us up!

3. Glutathione

Glutathione, known as the body's master antioxidant, plays a critical role in detoxing your body and reducing oxidative stress. This is important because that stress can contribute to weight gain and metabolic dysfunction. It also promotes liver health, which is essential for fat metabolism and hormone balance, Dr. Habashy explains.
