Longoria shared this new glimpse into her life in Spain after relocating from the United States for good earlier this year. In a November interview with Marie Claire, Longoria discussed her family’s recent move from Los Angeles to Spain. Her comments emerged amidst a wave of celebrity apprehension over Donald Trump's impending presidency, prompting speculation about her motivations.
However, the Young and the Restless alum soon addressed the misunderstandings that had gained media attention. The L’Oreal ambassador initially told the outlet that she didn’t like LA’s energy anymore. “The vibe was different, and then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge," she shared. Longoria added: "Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to [expletive] on California—it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now."

She further said: "I’m privileged. I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness are for them." She also explained her thoughts on Trump’s win. "The shocking part is not that he won," she went on, "it’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office."
However, shortly thereafter, Longoria phoned her friend Ana Navarro during a recording of The View: Behind the Table podcast to explain her remarks.
"Will you please let them know I didn’t move [out to] Spain because of [Donald] Trump?" Longoria asked.
The mom of one continued: "By the way, the [Marie Claire] article says that. People just grabbed some clickbait stuff to be divisive, which makes me so sad, you know. Everything you say is just meant to be divisive when we can’t be that way right now." Longoria mentioned that it was "her work" that brought her to Europe, and she had left the country before Trump was re-elected.
