Experts suggest that Taylor Swift may have undergone a discreet cosmetic procedure to make her eyes appear more open and less hooded. According to London-based aesthetic doctor and content creator Dr. Jonny Betteridge, the Grammy winner, 35, might’ve underwent a subtle blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, at some point during her career.

Betteridge recently posted two photos of the “Anti-Hero” singer—one from before and one from after the alleged procedure—to his 305,000 Instagram followers in an analysis video. In the clip, the doctor explained: “This is to help with hooding of the eyes and under-eye bags.” The process, he clarified, is intended to eliminate surplus skin or fat from either the upper, lower, or both eyelids.

Taylor Swift Allegedly Underwent a Minor Plastic Surgery to Enhance Her Eyes, Experts Claim

As reported by The Daily Mail, many young women opt for this procedure to make their eyes look "wider and less hooded." Betteridge is not the sole specialist to propose that the "Cruel Summer" hitmaker might have had a subtle eyelid surgery. Boston-based facial plastic surgeon and TikToker Dr. Spiegel @drspiegel has also noted the intriguing transformation in Swift's appearance.

As he told his followers in another video: "Now there is a distinct eyelid, where as before her lid was actually touching her eyelashes. This is a sign of a blepharoplasty." The doctor added: "The procedure takes under an hour using dissolving stiches which go away in just a few days or a week."

Others Think Taylor Swift Has Naturally Aged And Didn't Go Under The Knife

Another expert also weighed in on the Tortured Poets Department songwriter's eye area. Cosmetic specialist @carlytheinjector shared suspicions on social media about an eye procedure but remained skeptical that Swift has had a blepharoplasty. On TikTok, she noted: "I think that they did an eyelid crease fixation, which is where they go in and tack back the skin, as opposed to cutting it away and removing it. At that age she likely didn't have a lot of excess skin."

Nonetheless, Dr. Nigel Mercer, an expert in facial reconstruction surgery, mentioned to The Daily Mail that he thinks Swift's facial transformations might be due to natural aging. He also pointed to the before and after pictures featured in the aforementioned Dr. Betteridge Instagram video.

He told the outlet: "'It's not really fair to compare a child's face to a young woman's." He added: "In the first image she is in her late teens or early 20s, and her facial structure was just about maturing."

Mercer went on: "In the second image her features are simply slightly longer, which can happen with age." Mercer further clarified that a blepharoplasty would not be suitable for a woman in her mid-thirties. Even if the procedure were done, the results would probably be minor because of the natural contour of her eye. He continued: "A 34-year-old would have very little excess skin to play with and to move that fold upwards you need lots of it."

Professor Ullas Raghavan, a facial cosmetic surgeon at Pall Mall Medical, remarked that the Eras Tour performer's facial characteristics have grown more polished and "refined" over time. He pointed out that as we age, our faces naturally undergo changes, resulting in more defined features and a reduction in youthful fullness. Swift has not commented on any of these rumors herself.
