1. Avoid pulling and stretching the eye area
This first rule is a simple but highly important tip. Gibson says if you’re someone that uses a lot of eye makeup, be very careful when wiping it off because this area is very delicate and prone to wrinkles more easily. He recommends using micellar water to get everything off gently since the skin in this area is very thin.
2. Eye sunscreen
Gibson reveals that eye sunscreen is something worth investing in because regular sunscreens contain ingredients that could be irritating to the eye area for some people. He also suggests taking advantage of makeup products that are infused with sunscreen, such as eyeshadows, to further protect the eye area from damage.
3. Facial yoga
Gibson notes that facial yoga is “very important” because some of the techniques used help to “lift the eyelid skin up where it belongs normally and also keep it there.” Certain targeted exercises, especially when done three to five times a week consistently, will deliver “shocking” results that give the eyes a natural lift.
4. Ancient oils
Last but not least, he shares three “scientifically verified” ancient oils that can deliver great results when it comes to “crow’s feet, aging skin,” and fine lines around the eyes. He recommends frankincense, sandalwood, and myrrh oil.
Frankincense oil is “very hydrating to the skin and has also been proven to help improve collagen production. We lose collagen as we get older; bone mass shrinks and leads to sagging of the skin and, of course, the area around the eyes with so little fat padding can really begin to look sunken.”
This oil can also help with dark circles and extra puffiness “because it's anti-inflammatory, helping to shrink those capillaries and redness under the eye, removing some of that puffiness, and it even helps to fade those dark areas that show up under and around the eyes. It also tightens the skin around the eyes, reducing the fine lines and wrinkles and crow's feet, helping to make the skin around your eyes look much, much younger.”
Sandalwood oil has similar properties to frankincense but “contains a high concentration of antioxidants, which means, like a vitamin C serum, it's going to go to work in the upper layers of your skin, stopping free radical damage and oxidation of the skin. It's also anti-inflammatory.”
Finally, myrrh oil is beneficial for tightening this delicate area. It "reduces and eliminates eye bags under the eyes, and it helps tighten the skin."
