We all know we have to face the facts: aging happens to everyone! But, the process of aging can hit you faster when you're not making the best choices for your skin. Even the way you apply your eyeliner can make you look much older!

We talked exclusively to Mari Shten, celebrity makeup artist for the awesome beauty brand Deck of Scarlet, about the major age-inducing mistakes people make with their eyeliner. Make sure you're never making these mistakes again!

How you wing your eyeliner can have a huge effect on how you look, according to Shten. "Dragging it down can make you look tired and old," she says. "Make sure the tail of the line goes out and up to lift the eye."

You need to be wary of the type of liquid eyeliner you're using. "Some liquid formulas are too watery and can 'bleed' into fine lines around the eyes making them more pronounced," Shten advises. Instead of using super liquidy liners, try using creamier formulas like Deck of Scarlet liner.

Be careful with what color you use when applying bottom liner, Shten notes. "Applying eyeliner on the bottom lid can make the makeup look heavier and make the eyes looks smaller." Try using a lighter shade of eyeliner, like brown, and smudge it well to create a more natural look.

With eyeliner, less is always more! Shten says you shouldn't go too thick and heavy with your liner, or it can change your eye shape and make your eyes look heavier and older. "Make sure to keep the line thin and keep it close to the eyelashes," she says.
