Anne Hathaway recently shared her clever, go–to beauty secret in a TikTok video, revealing to fans how she achieves plumper lips using nothing but a simple hairpin.
The clip, which the Oscar winner, 41, posted earlier this week, begins with the Idea of You actress having her hair styled by Adir Abergel while on the set of a campaign shoot for Shiseido skincare.

Anne Hathaway Reveals Her Go-To Lip-Plumping Beauty Hack With A Simple Hairpin On TikTok
“I’ve been sat in a chair for a while, we get on set and I took a look at the monitor and I thought my upper lip looked just a little wilted,” the Princess Diaries alum explained. To give her lips a bit more vitality and fullness, she demonstrated to her fans how she lightly taps them with a hairpin. “I sort of stimulated my lip to try and get some blood flow back there, to get some circulation,” the Devil Wears Prada star continued, adding: “everybody looked at me like I had three heads.”
As with any do–it–yourself beauty hack, Hathaway warned that hers includes some important safety caveats, naturally. “You can overdo this, you can push too hard. It’s meant to be a gentle thing you don’t do longer than 30 seconds,” the style icon pointed out. “Don’t stab yourself. If you’ve drawn blood you’ve gone too far. It’s not a vampire LipTok. It’s just a little something to wake your upper lip up.”

Fans headed to Hathaway’s comments section to share their thoughts. “Best trick!” one wrote as another added: “I trust anything this woman says.” Someone else replied: “We love a queen that doesn’t gatekeep!” as one other noted: “It’s unreal how stunning she is.” Hathaway is frequently praised online for her chic style, as well as her “ageless” and “radiant” complexion, with many fans longing for more of her beauty secrets.
In September 2023, the Eileen actress sat down with People Magazine and discussed her thoughts on aging, self-care and her positive mindset. “Aging is just another word for living. And what you do with it from there is personal and up to you. I feel great — I feel better than I did in my twenties because I’m taking much better care of myself,” she dished.
The mom of two (who shares sons Jonathan, 7 and Jack, 3, with husband Adam Shulman) went on: "I'm really happy to have been exposed to Shiseido’s Vital Perfection [line]. I didn't know there was skincare specifically designed for skin in its fifth decade. I’m thrilled to have that extra bit of support."
Regarding confidence and personal style, Hathaway revealed: "In this moment everybody's taking risks and I feel like there's more than one way to do it right now, which means that you don't have to hit a mark, you just have to be yourself — and that feels wonderful."
She continued: "Erin [Walsh, her stylist] and I believe that style is an expression, and I trust her, which makes me feel like I can be braver. We don't take it too seriously. This isn't a dress rehearsal; this is life. I was given so many things at such a young age, and I didn't always know how to appreciate them."
"I felt badly about myself in certain things, and I didn't know how to enjoy what I was wearing. Now I'm wearing things that I enjoy, and I'm wearing them gratefully — and that seems to be working."
