Concerns have arisen about Wynonna Judd‘s wellbeing following her appearance at the 57th Annual CMA Awards, where she performed alongside Jelly Roll.
Despite delivering her trademark excellent vocals, the country music legend‘s fans couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was amiss. On November 8th, the “No One Else on Earth” hitmaker, 59, and the “Son of a Sinner” artist, 38, joined forces and delivered an ear-pleasing, harmonized rendition of his song, “Need a Favor.”
As Judd walked to the stage, her gait appeared unsteady. She made her way towards her duet partner and clung tightly to his shoulder, seeming to need his help in maintaining her balance. Soon after the performance, viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their apprehension for Judd. Some fans noticed her struggles to remain upright during the show.
Following the performance, one fan tweeted: “I’m worried about Wynonna Judd on this opening song from the CMA Awards. She looked she could barely walk, grabbed Jelly Roll’s jacket, and didn’t MOVE.” Another added: “She looked scared to death and was hanging on to Jelly Roll for dear life. Something isn’t right.” Someone else replied: “It was seriously bizarre. I wonder what’s going on? She barely moved once she got a death grip on him.” One other wrote: “Anyone think that Wynonna Judd was acting a bit off with Jelly Roll??”
Later that night, Judd responded to her concerned fans in a TikTok upload. “OK, so they say ‘Don’t read the comments’ – I read the comments,” she said at the beginning of her video. The “I Saw the Light” singer added: “I’m just gonna come clean with y’all, I was so freaking nervous. I got out there, and I looked at Jelly Roll, I wanted it to be so good for him. I could cry right now but I’m not going to because I’m such a fan of his, and he asked me to sing, and I said ‘Absolutely.’”
