Fans Defend Jessica Simpson Against Trolls Who Accuse Her Of ‘Bad Plastic Surgery’: ‘She Actually Looks Good’

Last week in Los Angeles, Jessica Simpson enjoyed a night out with friends, an event captured by paparazzi and promptly shared by pop culture outlet Just Jared with their 1.5 million Instagram followers. The “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer, 44,  was seen in an elegant brown silk dress adorned with black lace and floral designs, her iconic blonde hair styled in a sleek, center-parted blowout.

The “With You” hitmaker’s makeup featured shimmering smokey eyeshadow, dramatic lashes, rosy blush, and a glossy pink lip. While some fans in the comments lauded her nostalgic 90s-inspired look, others speculated about possible plastic surgery or remarked on her “changed” appearance. However, an increasing number of supporters are defending Simpson, celebrating her glowing skin, vibrant look, and fashionable ensemble.

Soon after the outlet shared the recent photos of the mom of three (who shares kids Maxwell, 12, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 5, with her husband, former NFL player Eric Johnson), fans headed to the comments section to share their thoughts. “It’s giving 2000s in the outfit and paparazzi and I’m loving it,” one wrote as another added: “Sobriety looks great on her.” Someone else noted: “She looks good and happy.”

Soon, trolls entered the thread as one wrote: “Why did she get lip fillers…a lot….she didn’t need it.” Another replied: “What in the hell happened to her? She looks like she’s 102 with lots of bad plastic surgery.” More fans came to her defense, with one commenting: “I think she actually looks good, more like her old self back in the newlyweds Nick and Jessica show days.” One other concurred: “I’m shook at the comments from these people! Evil, insecure and miserable people for sure.”

Although Simpson has not yet addressed the recent allegations regarding her use of plastic surgery or fillers, her memoir, Open Book, does detail her experience with cosmetic surgery. Specifically, the “Take My Breath Away” artist reveals that she underwent two tummy tucks after giving birth to her eldest children, daughter Maxwell in 2012 and son Ace in 2013.

While the fashion designer publicly credited her post-baby weight loss to Weight Watchers, Simpson acknowledges that there was more to the story. “The surgery wasn’t for weight loss,” Simpson explained. “I weighed 107 pounds when I planned the surgery. I wanted to get rid of the stretch marks and loose skin [caused by pregnancy].”

She went on: “I was so ashamed of my body at this point that I wouldn’t let [her husband, Johnson, 44] see me without a white T-shirt on. I had sex with it on and even showered with it on. I couldn’t bear to look at myself.”

Despite the initial success of her first procedure, Simpson still felt unsatisfied and opted to schedule another full tummy tuck two months down the line. “I still had loose skin that hung over my pants,” she noted, deeming many critics to be “cruel” when it came to her appearance in the late 2000s and throughout the 2010s.

Despite weighing only 120 pounds and wearing size 4 “mom jeans,” Simpson said that she was subjected to fat-shaming. “[I wasn’t] ready to face that laugh-and-point cruelty again,” the Dukes of Hazzard actress said. The second attempt at a tummy tuck was fraught with numerous complications. According to Simpson, she contracted an infection, specifically colitis, and was constantly vomiting to the point where she feared the sutures would rupture.

Her condition was so severe that she had to stay in Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles for a total of nine days and narrowly avoided requiring a blood transplant. When reflecting, Simpson said she now looks back at it all in a different light. “I need to say this: If you have stretch marks from pregnancy, I hope you can be proud that your body created life. I was not strong enough. It touched all my insecurities, and I couldn’t handle it,” she admitted.

In December of 2022, Simpson treated her followers to an inside look at her “camera-ready” skincare routine by sharing a video on Instagram. The video featured the star receiving a non-surgical facelift, offering her fans an exclusive peek at her beauty regimen.
