Shake Shack is now offering a brand new veggie burger, and the recently added menu item is exciting vegetarian fans nationwide! As seen both in customer tweets and in a Reddit thread titled, ‘Shake Shack Finally Launches a Vegetable-Based Veggie Burger Nationwide,’ veggie burger enthusiasts are celebrating the chain’s new ‘Veggie Shack’ offering.

The burger is made with “actual vegetables,” as many Shake Shack lovers are tweeting this month (this is notable, since many fast food veggie burgers are often made with soy or tofu to replicate beef and don’t contain as many veggies as those looking for more plant protein might like).

Shake Shack Debuts New Hyped Veggie Burger— The Veggie Shack

As Bon Appétit writes, the hyped new burger “doesn’t try to disguise its contents as anything other than good ol’ fashioned vegetables.” The Veggie Shack is now available nationally through app-ordering. It is filled with mushrooms, sweet potatoes, carrots, farro, and quinoa, as the outlet points out.

The burger’s veggie patty is “sandwiched between Shack Shack’s signature pillowy potato roll” and slathered with “Shack Sauce,” which the publication indicates is a combination of “pickle brine, mayo, ketchup, and mustard.” The new sandwich also includes stacked American cheese, pickle medallions, and crispy fried onions as toppings.

Fans Share Their Excitement Over The New Vegetarian Menu Item

Shake Shack fans headed to Reddit to share their joy at the news of the new burger, with one writing in the aforementioned thread, “I very much prefer a less-processed veggie burger than super-processed fake meat.” They added, “This is excellent news! I can’t wait to try it!”

Someone else echoed this sentiment, commenting, “I love this, I don’t know why we don’t offer more vegetarian/vegan options.” Another added in response to the menu update, “Finally! Excited to try this” with one other replying, “It’s about friggin time.”

The imitation meat-less burger isn’t the first vegetarian offering at Shake Shack, as the chain’s American menu also has its ‘Shroom Burger made with a “crisp-fried portobello mushroom” patty that the fast food giant notes is “filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses,” and topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce. This is all presented on a toasted potato bun.

While the ‘Shroom Burger is certainly beloved among vegetarian Shake Shack fans, what they seem to be most happy about regarding the new Veggie Shack is that it contains “even more vegetables” than anything else on the menu, as one fan recently tweeted.

Another stressed that the burger “tastes like actual vegetables,” which is part of its appeal. Someone else wrote that they were “sick of imitation meat” like “impossible burgers” and want to “taste actual veggies” in a fast food veggie burger. Now, thankfully we all can!
