Madonna was spotted on a night out with actress Julia Garner April 30th, and fans are commenting that the “Material Girl” looks unrecognizable compared to her self-posted social media images.

The singer, 64, was photographed with Garner, 29, at a birthday party in downtown New York City. Garner was slated to play Madonna in an upcoming biopic, but the project was recently announced to have been shelved.

Images from the night’s festivities had been shared to Madonna’s Instagram Story before “unfiltered” photos taken at the same time were revealed, leading some to comment on the apparent filtering in the originals.

Fans Sound Off: ‘She Looks Very Unhealthy’; ‘Blatantly Misogynistic’

Commenters on social media were bitterly divided on coverage of the unfiltered “girls’ night out” photos shared on Page Six‘s Instagram page. Some felt that Madonna looked “unhealthy” in the unedited images, saying the singer should “stop all that surgery stuff and get older with grace.”

However, many fans came to the Evita actress’ defense, chastising the page for sharing the images: “Imagine all your worst photos posted online. Stop the bull—-” commented one angry Instagrammer. “Bye Page 6. I can’t support an organization, for entertainment purposes or not, that is as blatantly misogynistic as yours,” said another commenter.

Another fan agreed: “So misogynistic! Do better @pagesix.”

Madonna Feels Kinship In Ex-Biopic Star

Many noted that Madonna was accompanied for the night by Ozark actress and Emmy nominee Julia Garner, who had been announced to play the star in an upcoming biopic until the film project was shelved earlier this year. It was reported that Garner had beaten out many other actresses for the coveted role, including Oscar nominee Florence Pugh, Euphoria star Alexa Demie, and singer Bebe Rexha.

Madonna, who has directed films such as W.E. and starred in others, like A League of Their Own and Dick Tracy, was slated to write and direct the biopic herself. The film was reportedly halted at Universal Pictures due to the music icon's preparation for her massive "Celebration" world tour.

The cancellation of the project seems to have not affected the "Vogue" singer's relationship with her actress protogé—on the images shared to her Instagram Story, Madonna captioned "B--ch we're Madonna!" in reference to both having taken on the "role" of the trailblazing entertainer.

Madonna previously reacted to images going viral of her earlier this year from the 2023 Grammys, writing in a February 7th Instagram post, "Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women pass [sic] the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong-willed, hard-working, and adventurous. "I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come."
