Customers have been complaining about the rising prices of fast food restaurants for months, and unfortunately, the rapid price increases don’t seem to be slowing down. Burger King is the most recent fast food establishment to be targeted by angry customers, though the company cites the increase cost of labor as the reason for increased menu prices. Fast food fans have taken to a now viral Reddit thread to share their thoughts on the rising cost of eating fast food. Keep reading for more information.

Burger King raises menu prices

In many states, minimum wage has been increased, and in most states, inflation has affected the price of many essential BK ingredients, like beef and potatoes. However MoneyGeek found that this price increase has been going on for longer than just this year. From 2021 to 2022, prices have increased by 9%, and that number is still rising.

Burger King isn’t the only fast food restaurant that has been raising menu prices. Taco Bell, Wendy’s, and McDonald’s have been doing the same thing. In fact, one McDonald’s customer was charged $16 for a Big Mac combo meal in Idaho, while another customer was charged $18 for the same thing! Customers are getting fed up, and we have a viral Reddit thread to prove it.

Reddit thread slams Burger King & McDonald's for absurd prices

User @Rehx4 posted to Reddit earlier this month, writing, "Same as McDonald's, Burger King is no longer affordable for the middle class." And many other users agreed. There's over 700 comments from customers that are tired of paying these high prices.

"Where I live, the #1 meal is at least $9," one user posted. "Crazy expensive!"

"The cheapest thing on Mcdonald's $1, $2, $3 menu is $2.99 for a small fry," another user pointed out. "Why even call it that anymore?"

"The Whopper is so small now, too," added another customer. "What am I paying more for?"

"Once they got rid of the $5 Whopper, I got rid of my once a week Burger King treat," another user replied.

Other users disagreed, and said the key is in the coupons.

Reddit users share fast food hack: 'the app is GOLD!'

Loyal (and determined!) fast food customers have found a way to get better prices for their favorite fast food orders: using the app to get coupons. "Coupons and it's crazy cheap!" one person wrote. "Use the app!"

"You have to download the fast food apps," another user added. "It's the only way."

"Gotta use the mobile app," a third customer agreed. "They always have great deals on there."

Though fast food apps can be frustrating, as one user pointed out, writing, "It's essentially jumping through annoying hoops just to save a little," it seems like it might be the only way to snag affordable fast food!
