A slow iPhone is a frustrating iPhone. You’ll want your device to be efficient so that it quickly downloads apps, uploads documents, and loads website pages without unnecessary lags. There are several settings that you can disable, such as Background App Refresh and Notifications, that will make a considerable difference in how well your phone runs. You can also delete apps that take up a lot of storage space — this will force your battery to work less hard, in turn, ensure your phone runs efficiently.

But it isn’t always easy to make those tough calls when you’re determining which apps to delete. Even though you know certain social media apps consume the most storage space and are taxing your battery, you may also enjoy using those apps and aren’t eager to do away with them.

One low-stress move you can make is deleting pre-installed apps that you rarely, if ever, use. Even though these apps don’t take up the same resources, deleting them will gain you back some storage without making you sacrifice anything at all.

1. Tips

Tips is a native app that only takes up about 50MB, but is probably unnecessary to keep on your device. This app is designed to provide helpful tips on how to use your phone in the most efficient way possible. It highlights design features, provides advice on using your camera, offers troubleshooting tips, and more. It’s a nice-to-have app, but not a crucial one, especially given how easily it is to look up tips via your phone’s browser.

2. Stocks

If you don’t follow stocks at all, it’s not necessary to keep this app on your phone. The Stocks app takes up between 10MB and 20MB. There are several other even more advanced apps out there that track stocks, making this one redundant.

3. Apple News

The amount of storage that Apple News consumes depends on how you use it. If you never save news stories on it, it will take up about 2.5 MB. But, if you save even five Apple News stories, the storage it takes up jumps to 3.1 MB. You can keep the app and change a few settings so that it doesn’t automatically download news to your phone or so you can clear saved stories. But you can also delete this pre-installed app if you feel like you already have adequate avenues for getting your news.
