Losing weight often involves making mindful choices about the foods you eat, including desserts. While traditional sweets can be high in calories and sugar, there are plenty of healthy dessert options that are both delicious and supportive of weight loss goals. By ditching processed baked goods and using nutritious ingredients and controlling portion sizes, these healthier desserts can satisfy your sweet tooth without derailing your progress.
Alex (alexxandra.fitt), an online fitness coach, shared three of her favorite homemade desserts that she recommends for weight loss. Not only do these treats taste and look great, but they also contributed to her losing 40 pounds. Some of her go-to sweet treats include fit-friendly cookie crumbles, reese pieces, and chickpea brownies.
These fit-friendly Cookie Crumbles are a delicious and nutritious treat, perfect for those aiming to stay on track with their health goals. Combining almond flour and oat flour with a scoop of protein powder, these cookies offer a satisfying bite with a balance of healthy fats, carbs, and protein. They contain 9 grams of fat, 10 grams of carbs, and 7 grams of protein.
Ingredients: 1 ¼ cups almond flour, ½ cup oat flour, 1 scoop protein powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ¼ teaspoon salt, ¼ cup melted coconut oil, ¼ cup pure maple syrup or honey, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 egg, and ½ cup dark chocolate chips (at least 70% cocoa).
2. Reese PiecesThese reese pieces are a tasty, protein-packed treat that’s both satisfying and nutritious. Each piece contains 220 calories, 15 grams of fat, 12 grams of carbs, and 10 grams of protein, making them a delicious way to boost your protein intake while indulging in a sweet treat.
Ingredients: 1 cup of nut butter, 2 scoops of protein powder, and 2 tablespoons of flax seeds. For the topping, use ½ cup of semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.
3. Chickpea BrowniesChickpea brownies offer a nutritious twist on a classic dessert, making them a great choice for those looking to support their weight loss goals. By using chickpeas as a base, these brownies are rich in protein and fiber, which can help you feel fuller for longer and stabilize blood sugar levels. This helps to curb cravings and reduce the temptation for less healthy snacks. Additionally, chickpeas are lower in calories compared to traditional brownie ingredients, allowing you to enjoy a sweet treat without derailing your progress.
Ingredients: 1 can (15 ounces) of chickpeas, drained and rinsed, 2/3 cup of natural almond butter or peanut butter, and 1/4 cup of honey or maple syrup. Add 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Optionally, you can include 1/2 cup of chocolate chips for extra richness.
