The One Food You Should Never Order At A Movie Theater, According To An Employee

September 19, 2017 by Emily Belfiore

It's the most wonderful time of the year to go to the movies. Soon, our theaters will be flooded with our favorite stars and Oscar-worthy films that we're going to have to see before awards season kicks off. And in order to have the best viewing experience, you're going to need some popcorn and candy. But before you order your concession stand faves, you're going to want to make sure to stay away from the popcorn. Apparently, it's not the freshest...

While popcorn and movie theaters go hand-in-hand, it definitely seems like a good idea to pass on it the next time you go to see a movie. An employee revealed that it's not uncommon for movie theater employees to serve customers old popcorn from the night before! Ew!!!

"I used to work at a movie theater. At night we would make popcorn and bag it up which is what we would serve in the morning the following day," says Reddit user and former movie theater employee 318daily. Yuck, good to know! There's nothing worse than stale popcorn, right?

Thankfully, this isn't always the case. The former employee specified that this only happens for the popcorn served early in the morning. "Don't get popcorn if you're watching the first showing of the day," they warned readers.

But it looks like this is a common practice for most theaters.Another employee wrote, "Be careful if you order popcorn for the first show time of the day at your theater. Some [theaters] take the popcorn left over in the popper from the night before and store it in a trashbag in the break room. They then dump the popcorn back into the popper the next day and sell it first."

Note to self: Never go to an early morning movie, or else you'll be served day-old popcorn! We hope this isn't true for the other food items they serve... Something tells us that it probably is.

Is it just us, or are the M&M's starting to sound a whole lot more appetizing?
