The trick to doing delivery right is to know the foods to order. You should not make it a habit to get pizza or fast food more than once or twice per month, and you should look for delivery restaurants that serve a menu of balanced meals.
But according to delivery drivers, there is something else you need to pay attention to when ordering in food: how well it travels. And there is one food you should never, ever order to go.
Delivery drivers can agree that sandwiches like meatball subs should never be ordered for delivery because they never hold up well in transit. Sandwiches with a lot of sauce can become squashed or mis-shaped as they bounce around and cool down. Plus, many sandwiches don’t heat up well as the filling and bread should be at different temperatures to be enjoyed well.
Next time you order in delivery, look for foods that can travel well, maintain their heat and be easily reheated. Some great options are Chinese food, pasta dishes and most appetizers.
