This Food Reviewer Just Called Wendy’s New Chicken Wrap 'Expensive And Repulsive'

In case you missed it, Wendy’s just launched a new chicken wrap that set out to rival the long-gone McDonald’s snack wrap. Some customers have headed out to Wendy’s restaurants to try the new wrap, but others were less enthused—the addition of the chicken wrap also meant the departure of Wendy’s chicken sandwich.

Now, after trying the grilled chicken tortilla wrap, some don’t see the hype. One reviewer from Cheapism set out to try what they thought would be their “snack wrap 2.0,” but ended up shockingly disappointed, calling the wrap “expensive and repulsive” in their overall report.

Reviewer Explains Why You Should Avoid The New Wendy's Chicken Wrap

The reviewer wrote that the McDonald's snack wrap was one of their favorite "healthier fast food menu items," so when news came out about the new Wendy's wrap, they had to get their hands on it. Their first complaint was over the price: "Wendy's new chicken wrap, albeit bigger than the O.G. Mickey D's version, set me back a staggering SIX BUCKS," they said. The McDonald's snack wrap, which was ripped from US menus in 2020, cost customers less than $2.

Now we know inflation is affecting prices and Wendy's wrap is bigger, but the $6 price tag simply can't compare. The reviewer continued writing their disappointment over the wrap's construction and quality. "When I opened the foil, I was met with an unraveling tortilla that I'm not even sure constitutes a wrap because the thing was hardly wrapped at all."  In a wrap, they wrote that "lettuce should exist as a filler, adding some color and crunch. Wendy's didn't get that memo — there was considerably more lettuce than there was chicken." In regards to the grilled chicken, they wrote "It had an off-putting rubbery texture with pungent seasoning that I could only describe as what my teenager's baseball cleats smell like after a doubleheader." Umm... yikes.

"Not. Appetizing. While the chicken was lukewarm, the tortilla was cold, which made the experience all the more unpleasant," they finished.

They said they'd stick to ordering a chicken wrap meal from a local restaurant, where they can "support a local business" and "enjoy an actually edible lunch option" for less than $10. "Wendy's grilled chicken ranch wrap isn't it, folks. Don't just stay away from it, run from it," they urged.

What Customers Think Of The New Wendy's Snack Wrap

Reactions to the menu item have been mixed. Many are disappointed Wendy's said goodbye to their grilled chicken sandwich to make room for the new wrap asking, "Why can't we have both!?" Others have had more positive experiences—aside from the price point, the quality of the wrap could totally depend on who's making it that day.

One person on Twitter taste-tested the wrap and noted it was "delicious," attaching accompanying images for proof. It certainly looks better constructed and more cooked than the Cheapism reviewer. Another let the chain know that the wrap is tasting better than past versions and that the "new seasonings are really good."

Still, some are still waiting for the return of the McDonald's snack wrap. A fan tweeted, "Alright McDonald's, I enjoyed a chicken wrap from Wendy's today so I’m waiting," followed by a side eye and smirk emoji.

We're still patiently waiting for the snack wrap's revival, but for the time being, we'll have to rely on Wendy's $6 attempt at it.
