There's nothing better than treating yourself to some McDonald's when you're in the mood for some fast food. But, it looks like some of your go-to picks from their menu aren't always the freshest or healthiest options available. Here are the foods employees say customers should skip the next time they stop by Mickey D's.

Fillet-O-Fish Sandwich
The longtime menu item may seem like a good sandwich to order, but a former employee says that the fish patties are rarely ever served fresh. "I used to work at McDonald's. Don't order our fish patties," the former employee warns, according to Mirror U.K. "No one ever does and I swear some days we'd make a batch and it would sit there all day until someone ordered some." Yikes!

Chicken McNuggets
Nooo! Just like the Fillet-O-Fish sandwich, the Chicken McNuggets are notorious for not being served fresh. “I used to work at McDonalds. If you order, especially chicken nuggets, just ask for them fresh. Otherwise they’ve been just sitting in their container in the heat," the former employee said, according to Huffington Post. "They have a timer, but 9/10 times when that timer goes off, people just reset the timer instead of making new ones. This could go on until all the nuggets are sold.”
Egg McMuffin Without Bacon
If you're looking to customize your Egg McMuffin to be served without Canadian bacon, employees say you're getting ripped off. Instead, they suggest ordering an Egg And Cheese Muffin to avoid paying more money. "If you want an Egg McMuffin with no Canadian bacon, ask for an Egg And Cheese Muffin. There is a button for the Egg And Cheese Muffin and it's $1.69 vs. $3.49 for an Egg McMuffin," says Reddit user and Mickey D's employee Terribly_Good in an AMA thread.
McFlurries
If you're fortunate enough to find a McDonald's with a working ice cream machine, you still should consider passing up on getting dessert. One employee says that the machines aren't cleaned thoroughly enough and are often filled with mold!
"The ice-cream at McDonald's is really good," says one former employee. "But there are times when no one orders it — like when it's cold outside — and the machine isn't cleaned out every day or it's cleaned, but not, like, spotless clean. There were even pictures taken at one franchise where the machine was growing mold." Gross!
