In a recent Reddit thread titled “Employees of McDonalds, what secrets did you discover while working there?”, former employees offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of the famous fast-food chain. Among the revelations shared, former employees divulged some somewhat unsettling truths about the beloved sweet tea.
As it turns out, a lot of sugar goes into that tea to make it sweet—and it’s enough to make some employees sick to their stomach. Find all of the details below.
“I worked at McDonalds when they first introduced sweet tea and remember that it was brewed in a large bucket mixing hot water with a full bag of granulated sugar,” shared one former employee. Despite the appeal of the sweet beverage, the former employee confessed, “It makes me sick to think about but I still sometimes crave that disgustingly sweet tasty garbage.”
