Suspicion has been cast on Taco Bell for offering remnants of meat to customers, mislabeled as “shredded chicken.” A TikToker and self-dubbed ex-employee of the chain recently shared her insight into the quality of the chain’s meats. According to her, the ground beef is more than satisfactory, and the grilled chicken is also dependable. However, the shredded chicken has raised some eyebrows due to its suspicious nature.
As reported by The Daily Dot, the user @momofstac,y says in her viral video: “So I worked at Taco Bell for almost three years, and I’m here to tell you all the truth.” She added: “The shredded chicken is all of the bits of the chicken that you don’t want to eat, and I promise you, eventually you’re gonna get a bone.”

Self-Dubbed Former Taco Bell Employee Warns Fans About The Chain’s Shredded Chicken And Steak
The apparent former Taco Bell worker also cautioned viewers to be wary of the fast food giant’s steak, (she used air quotes when saying the word) alleging that it is mostly comprised of gelatin. “Also the ‘steak’—so disappointing because I know it’s like the most appetizing thing—it’s 90% gelatin,” she went on. She continued, and said if the steak is left out for a little while it becomes “a slab of gelatin.” In the highly viewed video, she stressed once again: “Just trust me and stay away from the shredded chicken and steak.”
However, Taco Bell is denying this. In a statement, the company told Newsweek: "There is no added gelatin in our steak. Taco Bell takes pride in using high-quality ingredients, and we use only USDA-grade select or better for our steak."
The user's video garnered thousands of views and comments from fellow Taco Bell customers. "Disappointed about the steak but I’m probably gonna still eat it," one wrote under her TikTok post. Another added: "I’m gonna pretend I didn’t hear this lalalala i love the taco bell."
One other commenter who identified as a fellow former Taco Bell employee noted: "I was a manager for 4 years at Taco Bell and she’s not [lying] lol.."
A decade ago, Taco Bell was the defendant in a class-action suit over the composition of their seasoned beef. Allegedly, it did not meet the standards for being considered true beef. The legal dispute ended in 2011 after the chain increased the transparency of their meat content in their advertisements, as reported by NPR.
As for Taco Bell's ground beef, the TikToker described it as "safe." In the clip, she explained: "Ground beef is in fact real ground beef. It just has a lot of water and seasoning in it, but it’s safe I promise."
