Pre-Packaged Sandwiches Are Being Pulled From Grocery Stores In Michigan For Undeclared Sesame Allergens

Gaws Gourmet Foods Recalls Five Types of Sandwiches Due to Undeclared Sesame

In a statement outlining the recall issued by Gaw's Gourmet Foods, the FDA stated that "the recalled subs and sandwiches were distributed and also sold by retail stores and bars in southeast Michigan" and "people who have an allergy or sensitivity to sesame run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products."

The affected products, which are wrapped in clear plastic and have expiration dates ranging for 11/28/23 to 12/14/23, include Gaw's Ham & Cheddar and Salami & Cheese breakfast bagels, along with the Deluxe Italian, Classic Italian, and Ham and Cheese subs. Recalled products have the following UPC codes:

According to the FDA, the failure to list sesame as an allergen stems from "a breakdown in the company's labeling process." Subsequently, production of these sandwiches is currently halted.
