With her killer abs, flawless face, and extremely successful supermodel career, not to mention a gorgeous two-year-old daughter, Gigi Hadid might seem like she has it all! However, the 27-year-old catwalk queen just opened up about some of the darker moments of her life, telling Elle in her March 2023 cover interview that she sometimes struggles to cope with fame, especially when it comes to unwanted paparazzi attention surrounding her daughter Khai, who she shares with ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik.

Gigi Hadid Opens Up To ‘Elle’ About Her Struggles With Fame
Gigi looks extremely striking on the front cover, posing in a pale blue Guest In Residence bra, briefs, and arm warmers, as well as tiny Polo Ralph Lauren distressed micro shorts and hoop earrings from Cartier. However, it isn’t just the cover image that stands out, as we think fans are going to remember her candid interview for quite some time too!
The mom-of-one seemingly confirmed that we only see a small portion of her life on social media and in the press, and told the pub that in some instances, there is a lot of misunderstanding and misinterpretation, as “not a lot of context is given,” adding that it’s taken her years to learn how to handle the press.

“I’ve had early experiences where you learn how the world reacts when you share things in certain ways,” Gigi confessed. “Sometimes you just leave something feeling like you were taken out of context. Or just feel like you revealed too much, and it was taken advantage of. Whatever those learning-the-hard-way experiences are, you grow a certain skin.”
The Vogue cover girl then went on to say that she was “getting emotional” just thinking about it. “I think that I’m someone who you have to be in front of to experience. It’s not hard. This isn’t a complaint. It’s more that in my job, you see a lot of snapshots,” she continued, while wiping away tears from her face. “No, it’s fine. Apparently, I needed to say it. There are a lot of snapshots and really quick moments where, again, there’s not a lot of context given.”

Gigi Hadid Explains How She Copes With Fame
Gigi didn’t hold back in the candid interview, and then went on to say that both she and younger sister Bella Hadid – who has also opened up about her mental health struggles, including her insecurities while growing up – have been in therapy. “There are different things that we probably both deal with on different sides, but there’s always going to be something that comes together.”
“Serena once told me, ‘Nothing stays in the press longer than three weeks.’ You can feel like your life is ending,” Gigi added, referencing some great advice tennis legend Serena Williams previously gave her. “I think it’s about not taking yourself that seriously and being like, ‘When I am on my deathbed, I’m not going to remember that one awkward interview from when I was 19,'” she said, which we definitely agree with.

Gigi also said that she has now set her own boundaries with certain members of the press, especially paparazzi who take unwanted pictures of her and the former One Direction member’s daughter.
She said: “Setting boundaries, even if that’s with the paparazzi, going over and saying, ‘Hey, what’s up? I know we’ve seen each other from across the street for five years, but when I’m with my kid, please don’t point the camera this way.’ Sometimes you have to be assertive, and that doesn’t mean that it’s rude. It’s setting a boundary.”
