Ozempic, a medication originally developed to manage type 2 diabetes, has recently gained widespread popularity for its role in weight management, thanks to its ability to regulate appetite and blood sugar levels. Basically, the effects of it mimic those of natural GLP-1, a hormone that helps control hunger and blood sugar spikes.

This weight loss wonder has even taken Hollywood by storm, with stars like Oprah praising the medication for its weight loss effects.

However, certain beverages—like green and black tea—may offer similar results, but in a more natural way.

Maggie, a fat loss dietitian who has over 124K followers on TikTok, shared a clip explaining why she calls green and black tea “nature’s Ozempic.” Read on to get all her insights!

Green and Black Tea: “Nature’s Ozempic”

Rich in antioxidants and compounds that improve metabolism, these teas can aid in managing appetite and blood sugar levels, making them a great option for those seeking a natural approach to weight loss.

Maggie says, “The polyphenols in green and black tea stimulate your L cells to produce more GLP-1.” She explains that GLP-1 is the “hormone in Ozempic. It also makes the GLP-1 that’s produced by your body last longer, so you’re getting more and longer-lasting GLP-1.”

She recommends not to “sleep on” these antioxidant-rich beverages and suggests drinking at least two to five cups a day for enhanced benefits.

Furthermore, she adds collagen peptides to hers for an “additional fat-burning boost of protein!”

The bottom line

To get the full fat-loss benefits of green and black tea, it is recommended to drink them plain or with minimal additions. You should skip the sugar and milk, as these can add unwanted calories. Instead, squeeze some lemon drops to enhance the antioxidant effects of green tea.

Some health experts also say it's a good idea to drink a cup right before meals. This can increase thermogenesis (fat burning) and may help curb your appetite.

As for black tea, avoid the bottle ones sold at stores, as they often contain hidden sugars and additives.
