As COVID-19 cases surge in the U.S., grocery stores are reinstating purchase limits on certain items. That means you once again may see empty shelves and signs posted for “on per customer” when it comes to items like toilet paper and Clorox wipes.
Here’s everything you need to know about your go-to market’s new purchase limit policies:
Target
"Placing limits on products like toilet paper, disinfectant wipes, flushable wipes, hand and face wipes, multi-purpose spray cleaner, gloves and more," are just some of the steps Target will be taking to ensure they have the "most in-demand items this holiday season."
Wegmans
The Northeastern chain put limits on peanut butter.
Kroger
Customers can purchase a maximum of two items when it comes to bath tissue, paper towels, disinfecting wipes and hand soap. A spokesperson said in an email that the limits began earlier this week and apply in stores and online.
Whole Foods
"In order to serve more customers, we are limiting the purchase quantities of high-demand items," the company released online.
Giant
The Northeast chain began putting a limit on toilet paper and paper towel purchases last week.
Sprouts Farmer Market
The Phoenix-based chain is putting caps on select purchases, for example, customers can buy only two packs of disinfecting wipes at a time.
HEB
The San Antonio, Tex.-based supermarket chain has put caps on household items and first aid products, as well as Texans' favorite barbecue food brisket!
Raley's
A rep for the California supermarkets said, "We will continue to monitor stockpiling behavior closely and possibly reimplement [limits] accordingly in upcoming weeks."
