Gwen Stefani finally revealed exactly how her engagement to Blake Shelton went down, and we could not be more excited for them!
Although fans have been speculating that marriage was on the horizon for years now, Shelton only popped the question in late October. Since then, everyone’s been wondering about their proposal story. Luckily, Kelly Clarkson was able to get all the details from Gwen during her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

First, Gwen revealed that she definitely did not see the proposal coming--she even tried to get out of the trip to Oklahoma.
During the interview, she told Clarkson, "I was trying to get out of going to Oklahoma because it was getting too complicated with COVID and the family."
"I'm like, 'I think we should just cancel the trip.' It was one of those. Then we got it together and we ended up going," Stefani explained.
The only person who knew Blake's plan was Stefani's dad.
"Nobody knew, nobody knew," she explained. "My dad knew because on my birthday he had showed my dad and said he was going to do it or whatever."
A source also told People that Shelton had asked for permission from Stefani's sons as well.
As for how the proposal went down, it definitely sounds like Blake had a plan in place to surprise his wife-to-be.
Stefani told Clarkson that Blake had actually hidden the ring "in the compartment on the door of my truck for about a week" before popping the question.
He ended up proposing at home with plenty of family around to celebrate.
"My son was sitting right by this, like, fireplace and Blake, basically was getting down on his knees to do a fire and he goes, 'Hey, can you look in that cabinet over there and get me a fire starter?'" Gwen explained."So I opened the cabinet and there was like a ring and a box and I was like, 'Ahhh!'"
"I was like 'What, are you serious?'" she continued. "Then everybody came running around 'cause they heard us screaming and crying and so there was no video."
