While Paltrow admitted that she could “never say never” about her return to acting, her one caveat is a big one. “And I said I have to be f--king the writer!” Paltrow announced to Campbell on the show, suggesting that she would only accept a role if it was written by her husband, Brad Falchuk.
The mother of two went on to explain, “But that’s sort of it. If my husband writes something and he wants me to do it then I’ll do it.” However, while being in front of the camera does not sound particularly enticing to Paltrow anymore, she did admit, “I would like to go back on stage one day. I really loved doing theater.”
Over the years, Paltrow has racked up a number of awards, including an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and an Emmy for her role on Glee. However, the actress admitted that she doesn’t actually feel all that comfortable in front of the camera anymore, leading to the “semi-retired” status she now finds herself in. She went on to tell Campbell, “I actually haven’t been that comfortable being a public person or being in front of the camera even though I’ve done it for so long.”
It may seem as though Paltrow’s days of acting are numbered, but her recent role in Netflix’s The Politician came at the request of her husband Falchuk, so there’s a chance another role will come up in the near future which she might find to be a good fit. Either way, Paltrow isn’t disappearing from the spotlight entirely--she still has her uber-popular brand Goop and an upcoming The Goop Lab season 2 to look forward to!
