Gwyneth Paltrow has branched out from acting over the years, leaning more into her Goop brand than movie roles these days. But the 48-year-old star recently dropped a major Hollywood bombshell when she admitted to SiriusXM that she’s come to the understanding that she “doesn’t love acting,” and is now in semi-retirement.

Paltrow, who has been in the movie business since the late 80’s, says the revelation came as she began to question where she was going next in her career. She said on the radio show Quarantine With Bruce, “It wasn’t like I felt like this isn’t worth doing. I sort of felt like--well now who am I supposed to be? What am I? What am I driving towards?”
Since the actress spent most of her 20’s in the spotlight, she struggled with having her love life under constant scrutiny which she admitted took a toll. Paltrow explained how acting made it very difficult to live a normal life and spend time at home, with old friends, or even her children. In tandem with dealing with a “rough boss,” otherwise known as Harvey Weinstein, everything seemed to pile up for her.
Paltrow admitted that she’s still looking back on her career and trying to discern which moments put her in the mindset she finds herself now. Working with Weinstein was difficult for the actress in her young age, and she was one of the first celebrities to come forward with sexual abuse allegations against the movie mogul which she believes may have added to her turmoil.
While Paltrow may be stepping back from acting, the star can still be seen on the small screen in Ryan Murphy’s The Politician. And even if she’s done making movies for the foreseeable future, at least we have Goop on Netflix to binge watch when we need our next Gwynnie fix!
