Gwyneth Paltrow Reportedly Really Approves Of Dakota Johnson And Is 'Determined' To See Her Marry Chris Martin
An insider reportedly told Life & Style that the Goop founder really approves of the 34-year-old Fifty Shades of Gray actress marrying her ex-husband – which could perhaps be why she is trying to meddle in their relationship, which has reportedly been a little rocky lately, and even assist with their wedding planning.
"Gwyneth is determined to see Chris marry Dakota, which is sweet on one-hand, but it's also very controlling," the insider shared, adding: "At the end of the day she wants to have her say in who he's with."
The "Yellow" musician and the Madame Web actress started dating just three years after Martin "consciously uncoupled" from Paltrow in 2017. They have secretly been engaged for almost four years, with Dakota sporting a giant emerald ring on *that* finger since December 2020. An insider confirmed to People in March 2024 that the couple "got engaged years ago" but are in "no rush to get married."
The couple have faced split rumors lately, but the Daddio actress's rep was quick to shut them down, telling People last month: "The reports are not true. They are happily together." And we bet the Shakespeare in Love actress is very happy to hear that too, as she is reportedly determined to see them head down the aisle, even if her reasons are a little bit selfish…
"A lot of people wonder if this is more about her not relishing the idea of Chris being single again and bringing God knows who around than it is about her feelings for Dakota," the insider shared.
"Of course, Gwyneth insists she loves Dakota and knows she's the right partner for Chris and is coming on super strong with both of them, trying to pressure them to do this all her way," the source continued, before going on to say that Gwyneth's meddling isn't appreciated.
Chris Martin And Dakota Johnson Reportedly Don't Want Gwyneth Paltrow To Meddle: 'She's Way Overstepping Her Boundaries'
Despite Dakota's rep confirming that she and Chris haven't split up, the pair have been struggling a bit lately, largely due to their conflicting work schedules.
A source previously told Life & Style: "They spend a lot of time apart due to their respective work schedules — and sometimes, Chris can be a little too switched-off for Dakota's liking." However, they are reportedly determined to work things out – and they want to do it on their own!
"Things have been up and down between Chris and Dakota, they're trying to work things out on their own," the source continued, before going on to say that the Sliding Doors actress's alleged meddling isn't helping them.
"Last thing they need is to have Gwyneth sticking her nose in trying to play counselor," the source continued, adding: "It's just very intrusive and she doesn't seem to get that she's way overstepping her boundaries."
The source concluded: "She's convinced she can save the day and has even tried to take over the wedding planning, since she's convinced all the back and forth about getting married is at the root of their problems. She means well, but she's like some sort of tornado trying to force two adults to do her bidding and it's not helping one bit."
