The fashion at this year’s Met Gala did not disappoint. So many of our favorite A-listers strutted onto the red carpet wearing their interpretations of Americana style to fit with the event’s theme. And, there were others who took a different approach.

There were a few celebrities that we didn’t even recognize when they stepped onto the red carpet! Whether it was a new beauty look or an outfit that changed their appearance, some stars took shock-factor to the next level…

Hailee Steinfeld literally looked like a different person when she arrived at the gala wearing Iris van Herpen. The 24-year-old actress had dyed her hair blonde and taken a try at the contour makeup look that made her look more like Khloe Kardashian than herself.

We couldn’t even see Kim Kardashian under her Met Gala look. The SKIMS-founder opted for a covered-up look in head-to-toe black – literally. Designed by Balenciaga, this look will definitely go down in history.

Maisie Williams showed us another radical makeover. The 24-year-old  Game of Thrones star stepped out with a dramatic makeup look and sculptural hairstyle that perfectly matched her Thom Browne ensemble.

Thom Browne also styled Erykah Badu, who stepped onto the red carpet with a dramatic, lacy face covering. The 50-year-old musician looked unforgettable in this powerful statement.
