Inside Hailey Bieber's Postpartum Fitness Routine and Diet: Pilates, 'Healthy Protein,' Cutting Out Sugar, and More
When it comes to her diet, Hailey revealed to Elle that she loves "eggs or oatmeal" for breakfast on a "regular day" with "some type of healthy protein, or a smoothie." Her lunch usually features a "salad, fish, grilled veggies, or maybe a sandwich." She explained: "I don't really eat a lot of gluten so I'm trying to be particular. I love a good kale Caesar salad [but with] no croutons. That's usually one thing I leave out."
She continued: "Dinner is usually kind of along the same lines [as lunch]; some sort of vegetable, or pasta, like a gluten-free pasta." During an interview with Vogue Australia, Hailey revealed that she likes to be fully aware of the ingredients in her food. As a result, the mom of one opts to cook at home whenever she has the chance, instead of ordering takeout or dining at restaurants.
Hailey told the outlet, regarding her routine with her "Yummy" singer husband, 30, "We grill a lot of stuff: steak, veggies, corn on the cob, right on the grill." She added: "Honestly, the food tastes different at home because it’s so fresh." In a recent Instagram post for her 54.2 million followers, Hailey wrote: "Over the past 2 and 1/2 months I completely cut meat (other than fish) out of my daily eating and have been sticking to more vegetarian/vegan dishes."
She noted: "I have never felt better! Feel so clear and energetic. Just sharing for anyone who may be thinking about cutting out meat!" She also told Elle that she always aims to limit sugar and prioritize drinking water. "Sometimes [I'll do dessert]. I really like the Magnum bars, that's a great one. [But I generally try to avoid] sugar. Sugar's a big one for everyone, I think," she said.
The beauty mogul added: "I think drinking a lot of water helps. I try to drink, like, a couple bottles throughout the day. I don't know how many glasses that would amount to, but it's important." She went on: "I try to be very strict about eating just for my skin and my body [but on a recent trip], I was eating whatever I wanted when I was there because it was just like you've got to take advantage of those moments."
Hailey further explained: "A cheat day for me, the first thing that I crave, I'll eat. That's my rule. So if I wake up and I want pancakes, I'm gonna eat pancakes. If I want a cheeseburger for lunch or for dinner, I'm gonna eat it. If I want fries, I'm gonna eat the fries."
When discussing her workout routine, Hailey enthusiastically expressed her passion for Pilates. As she said on the Women's Health Going For Goal podcast: "I used to be a ballet dancer so Pilates for me gets my body personally in the best shape because it’s very elongating."
"A lot of the movements in Pilates are very similar to dance." Although she doesn't always opt for regular Pilates, Bieber occasionally favors an intense, sweat-inducing workout. She told Vogue Australia: "I’ve been doing hot Pilates for years now."
She continued: "I find that when you do any hot class your muscles are more pliable and you’re stretched out easier. You come out dripping in sweat and my face is like a tomato and it’s good for your skin! I love it! I’m obsessed and it’s addictive."
In addition to practicing Pilates to lengthen and tone her muscles, Bieber enjoys varying her workouts in the gym, alternating between different high-intensity exercises. She said to Women's Health: "I really like boxing for cardio. And I'll do a couple of sessions a week in the gym, weight training and cardio." The more you know! Hailey emphasized that she understands that it benefits her mind just as much as her body. "Exercise keeps my mind and my body really healthy," she stressed.
