Halle Berry Talks About Directing ‘Bruised’ & Future Projects
The Academy Award-winning actress talked about her first directing experience for Netflix’s Bruised back in 2020. “Because I was a woman, and a Black woman, the treatment I received and the things I had to put up with were unconscionable. If I were a white man or even a Black man, it would have been easier. It’s amazing I even made it and a miracle Netflix bought it,” she said to Variety.
As for her next project titled, Maude v Maude, the 57-year-old revealed that despite a challenging start to their collaboration, she is enthusiastic about her upcoming movie co-starring Angelina Jolie.
Berry is slated to join forces with Angelina Jolie as both a co-star and co-producer for the film. “We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together.” She continued that she is “thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with our sensibility and from our point of view. She is formidable.”
While we have to wait to hear what exactly the ‘rocky start’ was about, Halle emphasized that they eventually found common ground and bonded over shared interests. “We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes. We bonded, let’s say that.”
