Harrison Ford was recently injured while filming scenes for the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 film, and a statement released by Disney revealed that production will continue for the movie despite Ford sustaining an injury to his shoulder. This is the first Indiana Jones movie that has been released since 2008, and with Ford doing his own stunts, a rehearsal for one of the fight scenes was to blame for derailment of filming.
In a statement released to ET, Disney wrote, “In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder. Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks."
At 78-years-old, the seasoned actor is reprising his role of Indiana Jones, and while it’s still unclear the severity of Ford’s injury, it’s reportedly feared that filming will have to be delayed up to a month. The new film is set to also feature an all-star cast of Mads Mikkelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Boyd Holbrook, and will be directed by James Mangold rather than Steven Spielberg who directed the prior Indiana Jones films.
This installment will be the final movie in the Indiana Jones franchise, coming over 10 years after the last movie--Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Set for a theatrical release in July of 2022, actor Josh Gad, who will not appear in the films, recently shared an image of Ford on set in his iconic Indiana Jones costume. Hopefully production isn’t delayed too much and the release date will remain as planned!
