Harvey Fierstein's 120-Pound Weight Loss

Fierstein's weight has fluctuated greatly over the course of his career, and isn't afraid to admit it. "I've been skinny before, that's the sad part," he admitted to Page Six. "I've been skinny, I've been fat, I've been skinny, I've been fat." He's struggled with this for many years, and makes a point to speak about it so others know that they're not alone.

"People don't understand that being fat is not a choice," he explained. "It's something that your body is out of whack and this puts your body back in whack," he said, referencing the weight loss medication Zepbound.

Harvey Fierstein Speaks On Weight Loss Medication

In order to shed some weight, Fierstein hopped on the train many celebrities have boarded, like Sharon Osbourne, Oprah Winfrey, and Kelly Clarkson, and began exploring weight loss medications. After getting on Zepbound, he's lost 120 pounds, and though he gained 15 pounds back initially, he said he's maintained that weight for a while now, and finally feels like "a normal person."

"What's different is what the drug actually does for you, which is, I don't feel like I'm dieting," he explained. "I feel like a normal person. I can go and have dinner with friends and not have to eat every piece of bread on the table and then not go have ice cream when I'm done with dinner."

"I know what it is to be full like a normal person."
