Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but sometimes it can be hard to find time in your mornings to sit down to eat – let alone make food. Many people opt for takeout food for breakfast, which isn’t necessarily bad for you as long as you know what to order. Most takeout or drive-through breakfast options are fast food, which can be unhealthy. But if you order the right meal, you can have a healthy takeout breakfast with little effort.
The most important thing to keep in mind when ordering fast food or drive-through meals is to really look at what you're eating. The worst mistake you can make is ordering breakfast that is high in fat or sodium because that could mean you get most of your daily recommended intake too early in the day.
But the one food you can just about never go wrong with is oatmeal. Most fast food or drive-through restaurants serve oatmeal on the menu. Starbucks, in particular has a great oatmeal selection.
Starbucks makes its oatmeal using a blend of rolled and whole grain steel-cut oats. It offers two oatmeal options on its menu: classic, with toppings of nuts, dried fruits and brown sugar, or blueberry with agave syrup for sweetening rather than sugar.
Oatmeal is always an excellent choice for breakfast because it is high in fiber and antioxidants. It helps you start your day energized and loaded with nutrients.
